In March 2026, Ben Felten returns to the legendary Lake Gairdner salt flats to push the limits of human performance and challenge the Blind Motorcycle Land Speed Record. Riding the Kawasaki ZX10R and guided by longtime navigator Kevin Magee, the Blind Speed team is preparing for one of the most meaningful runs in its history.
This year is more than a race. It’s a statement of resilience, innovation, and the power of trust between two riders travelling at extreme speed.
Dark Rider is the award winning feature documentary that follows Ben Felten’s extraordinary pursuit to become the fastest blind motorcycle rider on earth. After losing his sight in his midthirties, Ben refused to surrender the life he loved. Instead, he built a world class team, partnered with Paul Simpson and legendary navigator Kevin “Magoo” Magee, and set out to chase a landspeed record that most believed was out of reach.
The film captures the precision, danger, and discipline of highspeed racing, but its heart lies in resilience—how a rider without sight finds a way to see possibility, purpose, and momentum again. From engineering challenges to the raw intensity of the salt flats, Dark Rider reveals what it truly takes to ride blind into the impossible.
Growing up, Ben had a passion for motor racing and a dream, as well as the talent, to become a professional motorbike rider.
However, following a motorbike accident in his teens, Ben learned that he had a degenerative eye disease that would slowly, but surely take away his sight and potentially rob him of his dreams.
This didn’t stop him though.
In March 2018, Ben wrote his name in the history books as The Fastest Blind Man on A Motorcycle, clocking a new World Record of 266.716 km/h (165.730 mph) and showing the world that he may have lost his sight, but his vision was clearer than ever.
In March 2024, Ben aims to go one step further by becoming The Fastest Blind Man in Australia, on four wheels.
Switching to a car, Ben will pilot a professionally-modified electric vehicle towards 200kph.
